Their backyard...

So we have celebrated many jubilant events in my mom and dad's backyard. Their backyard is a decent size considering they live in California... it is a far cry from the teeny piece of land they call a yard that they give out nowadays!

Well, anyways my parents are a bit sentimental and also very busy, so remnants of these celebrations are littered all over the backyard.

Let's start with these lights...
They were strung around on our avocado tree for my 18th birthday, which is a big deal in the Filipino culture (think wedding, minus the groom). My 18th birthday was a long time ago...

Now we have the ribbon from Benny and mine's wedding...
They were beautifully tied on the fence and used to be a bright avocado green. The yard was once filled with 200 happy people celebrating the day God brought Ben and me together. Now the ribbon is a sage green and lovingly droops down to serve as a soft reminder of that summer day. That was almost 3 years ago...

Now we have the colorful ball lights strung all across the canopy of the yard...
These were for my middle sister Reinna's 18th birthday. It was disco themed. These were once balls of color, but of course the elements of nature has taken its course and the lights have lost the lustre of its voluminous color. My sister is going to be 20 this year...

And the once fluffed of balls of wonderful tissue paper...
These were for True's 1st birthday and they still hang scattered underneath the patio, but now fall flat due to nature sucking the life out of them. True is going to turn 2 next month...

These things are just a few of the reminders of happy memories and love that have whirled around in the Navales house. These mark some jovial celebrations...

The yard is also still scattered with lots of our childhood toys, but that is for another post...

I am sure those toys are waiting for Brave and True to take notice of them. Then, my girls can create their own happy memories in their Grammy's and Grumpy's backyard.

Thank God for the ability to have memories and for giving us family. It is only by His grace...
