Every year, for the past 3 years, the entire Navales Family clan gets together at some yummy place for some fine dining and for some family celebration. This year's celebration was for the 40th anniversary of my dad's family coming to the United States.
On February 3rd, 1967, the Navales family left the Philipines and made their way to Los Angeles. My dad was just 9 years old (I think) and if it not for this day... well, let's just say a lot of things would be really different.
So this year's celebration took place at
Yamashiro in Hollywood...

Bai, my grandma, recollected and shared with everyone that very important day and pointed out how much their original family of 7 has now changed to 23, which include 2 great grandchildren.

Now, we were really late, so we missed the appetizers. Though, they did make sure to order us some sashimi...

But we were just in time for first course and second course. Oh how I loved the second course... I ordered the Yamashiro Grilled Seafood, which included tender mahi mahi, ginormous scallops, scrumptious shrimp, delicious portobello mushrooms, yummy quinoa, and succulent lobster!!!

And of course True gets her own bowl of rice... yummy!!!

And who could forget dessert... I got the Strawberry Preserve Filled Doughnuts.

And I made Ben get the Warm Chocolate Souffle Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream... it was all so yummy in my tummy!!!

By the end of the evening and when I was done stuffing my face with food, I was so, so tired (I think it is evident in my eyes).

While we were waiting for the valet, it was nice to enjoy the view from the Hollywood hills.
Thank you to Bai for bringing my dad to the U.S. and for treating everyone to such a lovely, yummy dinner... I wonder where we are going eat next year?!! I can hardly wait!
